The beautiful mother of pearl of an Abalone shell was the inspiration for this painting. The surface is built up forming a low relief and sculptural feel. Colors become visible or drop back depending on the viewing position, lighting or time of day making this an ever changing work. Semi-transparent layers of irridescent paint, mica and gold leaf media interacts with its environments becoming change-able and alive, dancing light across the canvas.
